I am at home now, getting ready to go to work. The sun is just coming up and a train has rumbled by at the bottom of the hill far away. The tracks are right next to my Possetorium, and I love having a calling train rattle and hum by my window. Gives me a thrill in the late winter, or is that early spring? The last of the bottles and containers are put away and counted and now I only have to write down numbers and enter them into a computer.
My office faces the East and that is the first weather I see when I look up. I look out over the former prime airport for the entire of Cincinnati, an old place called Lunken Field. It was the height of modernity in the late ’20′s but now it’s the height of a quaint place which escaped the wreckers ball. Our own Diego Rivera did a set of murals which you see as you enter, a little prop plane is suspended in the entrance, and there is a very good restaurant now, with a lively bar where you can watch the props and fancy corporate jets take off and land.
But I will be indoors, head down, doing my job and being grateful for the opportunity, grateful for spring.
