The weather is getting warmer and the new summer Posets are beginning to appear one by one. Fireflies always herald when you start to think of summer. The days get longer and lazier and more Possets appear. By the way, the gentleman on the left is Bacchus by Caravaggio.
Fireflies The first 2006 Posset to reappear, Fireflies rises again in a pother of sweetness, citrus, humidity and languid gauziness. This is a fragrance light enough to wear without cloying on the most humid of evenings. It is tart enough to fit in a silver scent locket and be at ease, it is sweet enough to lift your spirits. Fireflies has been tweaked up a bit to include more of the scenting materials in it without distorting and so the 2007 version should be more durable and stronger. I still recommend that Fireflies be worn in a scent locket around your neck and not pursued too hysterically. It is really charming.

Flossing A pretty, dear and yet spicy little blend. Flossing is named after the dainty stitching put on many corsets to keep the stays in place. A comforting blend of gingery peppery small vanilla and wood, Flossing is very cheery and is like being the Queen in a Sewing Bee! This is a marvelous everyday perfume which can lift your spirits immensely. Highly recommended as a first Posset for the persnickety or those who want to try Possets but are diffident about it. The icon is of some flossing I did on a corset recently.

Fygmalian Everybody loves fig, and this is fig. Fig layered with creamy fig, a shot of astringent fig, with a captivating fig musk, set against a backdrop of deepest fig. Surprisingly, it comes off a remarkably wearable, beautiful, and lighthearted. Wearing Fygmalian does not count as one serving of fruit, though. The icon is one of the whimsical painter Arcimboldo's Fruit and vegetable portrait paintings.

Chichicastenango The most famous city in Guatemala for it's wonderful open air markets and the continued worshipping of many of the old Mayan gods despite centuries of proselytizing by Catholic and Christian missionaries. Ripe ripe fruits spill out into the air, sensual and refreshing but making you itch for more at the same time. These are the dark fruits of the jungle, the kind that can scarcely be touched without splitting open and bleeding their sweet smelling juice.
7ml bottle of Chichicastenango-$10
The Persian Melon So cool and so refreshing and instead of smelling like a salad, The Persian Melon ends up smelling...cute. It took some doing but I managed to tease cucumber into becoming a fruit of the Earth sort of a smell, and the melon is the kind of melon my dad used to grow on the farm, it's a cross between the All American cantaloup and the ancient and breathtakingly beautiful Persian variety which my mother would smuggle back in her luggage from trips to Turkey. No kidding, those things were like eating a perfumed sweet. Well, it's in a bottle now for you to enjoy, too. Of course, there are other Possety things in there as well to keep it from becoming dull. A beautiful lilting clean scent perfect for summer. It's working name was Cuke-A-Poo.The icon is Renior's Odalisque.

Possets is keeping the Spring Offerings up until July 5th when some will retire and some will become part of the permanent part of the Possets' lineup. Right now I am sure that Dioxazine Purple will be one of those, as well as the three specials: Id, Ego, and Superego. Please note: The seasonal offerings only come in 7ml size. I can't make up sample sizes of these at this time. The great news is that they are all only $10 each!
Id is all fun with drippy gooey chocolate and a heart of vanilla caramel and sweet sugary indulgence. Id has no idea of where to quit. No breaks and extreme (but totally wearable). If you know Possets, you will have an idea of how good this foody iddy one is.

Ego is harmony and proper balance, spiked with chocolate fun, there is a calm contemplative side to Ego and a complexity which goes so well with the self assured and not too sweet mode of thought. You could easily wear Ego to the PTA without having people think you smeared yourself with a Mars bar, and you would be able to smile happily while enjoying the more earthy and grounded tones of your scent.
7ml bottle of Ego-$10
Poor Super Ego has such a bad rap! But, this one is fun to wear. Super Ego is all natural (and adheres to all the rules put down for a 100% natural scent from Possets) but instead of being hard to take, Super Ego concentrates on a thoroughly grounded feel to the chocolate and rather melts with lovely earthy notes and spikes of tonka hidden in the background (among other things). Super Ego reminds me of an ancient Greek play, very tight and perfectly well put together.

Lavender Corset Such a pretty and old fashioned yet bleeding edge modern scent! Lavender Corset is more lilac than lavender, very feminine, long lasting and a persistent whisper of a fragrance. Like a corset it creates a perception about you but one about which others are barely conscious. It is magical, though. Perfect as a day perfume but not prim, perfect as an evening perfume but not brash. Characteristics: Lilac, musk, versatile, feminine, clean, sophisticated, long lasting.

Cruel Spring I woke up the morning of the Spring Update and it was very cool and very fresh and very vernal. Really pretty and yet there were mixed emotions when I looked a the ruined first leaves of the poplar tree in my backyard. Spring had nipped so much with the frost and freeze but the cold is so necessary for its beauty, too. Cruel Spring is a tribute to refreshing coolness with a hint of danger to it. Icy and beautiful very refreshing and uplifting. You might want this one around in the heat of the summer, or in the middle of a heavy gardening day, and certainly during a workout. Characteristics: Citrus, strong, cold, pretty, clean, sophisticated, long lasting.

Glee Oh, the Glee of spring! Here it is. Another chocolate scent but this one is, how you say, spicy? No, it's oriental and choco... No. It's...it's...it's... Oh, heck. You just have to try this one and supply your own description. Words fail even me, and I warn you it is not stable! I love this stuff. Love it. However, it turns on my skin. Just let it dry and it Hates me. I hope it does not happen to you. Most of the time if a scent does not agree with me I don't offer it, but this time I think that Glee is so good that I offer it with the warning and let you know that I love it and wear it in my scent locket. That's right, it's that good. Give it a try and see what you think. Amended to say: for some celestial reason my skin stopped hating Glee. I am so happy. But try this stuff anyway. It is really good. Characteristics: Chocolate, foody, woody, unisex, scent locket, modern, home scent.
7ml bottle of Glee-$10
Dioxazine Purple Of all the colors painters use, Dioxazine Purple is one of the highest staining and most powerful. Dioxazine Purple is the latest color scent from Possets and it is POWERFUL PURPLE! If you are a purple lover, you will love Dioxazine Purple. this one lasts and lasts, too. Just like the pigment, this purple will take your breath away. Characteristics: Purple, strong, musky, unisex, long lasting.
7ml bottle of Dioxazine Purple-$10
Indy499 You should be hearing the Doppler distorted buzz of very expensive race car motors right now. Indy499 is huge floral hedonism. This perfume just shouts, "Stand up in the infield and show us your(unintelligible)!" Sweeter than pie and lashed with peonies; the Hoosier State in full throttle, in the spring, in a bottle.* Characteristics: Peony, floral, foody, sweet, long lasting.
7ml bottle of Indy 499-$10
*By the way, if you ever get a chance to visit Indiana, do not pass it up. They do pie like nobody else can possibly do pie. Their landscape is unbelievably great and some of the most fun times I have ever had were in Indiana.
