It is a good deal more difficult to make a fine natural perfume than it is to do the man mades right. Spring is here and we cannot live our lives as vulgarians, now can we? That is precisely why I have decided to provide you with Handkerchief Water, for those times when perfume is just too, well, heady. I cannot sell it in the sample size, just the 7ml dropper bottle. However, the price is the same as the permanent Natural's lineup, $20 each.
By the way, the image in the background is The Death of Hyacinth by Tiepolo. I thought that was appropriate for the Spring Naturals Collection.
Handkerchief Water In days gone buy, it was considered crass for a woman to use perfume. It was too strong and animal, it would likely upset her tendre sensibilities. So handkerchief water was considered the dainty substitute. It was meant to be dabbed on one's hanky and drawn out of your sleeve and sniffed delicately and furtively before being returned to its customary place. I don't believe the perfume should be undetectable, and this handkerchief water would not do if one were looking for something too light to be smelt. But, with it's large start of lime and amber combined with heady herbal and unexpressed passions and...well, you get the picture. Characteristics: foody, invigorating, scent locket, home scent, unisex, sophisticated, natural.

The icon above is a photograph of the handkerchief I carried on my wedding day and that my Grandmother Sweeney carried on her wedding day. If you look closely, you can see the harp of Ireland in the lace corner. That was a tribute to my Grandfather from Grandmother.
