Re: Frou-Frou
Rose notes have always amped on me until I can't stand it anymore, but I love the scent of real roses, so I have soldiered on, trying to find "the one". This is it. This is the one. It's a lot like I hoped The Pleiades would be. A rose of the palest pink possible, tempered with just a hint...

Re: The Jester (Valentine 2012)
I had been craving a berry scent and went for Viking Queen (sickly sweet berry, too much like a BBW scent for my liking) and, on a whim, The Jester. I thought it might be sweet and foody, but there is a grounding element that makes it sexy. Not getting chocolate, exactly; I would say musk. Reminds m...

Re: Plantagenet Review (Valentines Possets 2012)
Mmmmm...this is really seductive! And it's got a lot of throw. Wood scents often go cloying or sharp on me, but this is truer to what you might smell in the forest and I like it. A little bit sweet and spicy, classic masculine vibe (although in practice it's unisex). A tiny, tiny drop of this is the...

Re: Bitter
Bitter has an indolic quality to it, something in between jasmine and lilac. It's a somber floral. I don't get patchouli at all, and when I think "citron" I would expect a sharp, perfumey edge, but it doesn't have that either. It feels familiar and quite Victorian. Very pretty.

Re: Eleanor of Aquitaine
I am in love with this scent. It smells exactly like fresh cut grass, having grown fat and bright green after a long rain. I didn't think this would be a scent I would want to wear, but I'm hooked. It feels like Spring: full of hope, possibility, and cerulean blue sky. I could not tell you how each ...

Re: Valentine Retour
So happy about the extension! I got my decants yesterday (28 in all), and I have just fallen madly and deeply in love with Eleanor of Aquitaine, something I would NEVER have chosen if I was limited to a few bottles. And I still have time for more testing! Thank you Jennie & Tom!

Re: Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw
This reminds me SO MUCH of the smell of Yardley English Lavender soap, the way I remember it from the 80's. It was many years before I smelled true lavender and I never put two and two together (until now) that English Lavender smells less like lavender, and more like an herbal concoction. And usual...

Re: Sparks
I chose this one for the name alone. The word "sparks" has always had positive connotations for me, but the notes didn't sound appealing on their own. Burled walnut? Black walnut leaves? Angelica? I have no reference point for those. The perfume is quite pretty. It is the first ever perfum...

Re: Valentine Retour Decants!
YAY! Thank you! I already had a problem; I guess I"m going to need more samples storage space LOL I was able to get 28 decants. TWENTY EIGHT. That's enough perfume testing for an entire year. I think that's still only a third of all the Valentines? I'm just grateful Fabienne used enough death ...

Re: News In 2016
I am re-reading the past year's posts and I'm a bit embarrassed. Not knowing Fabienne was sick, I said some things which now come off as flippant. And I missed a lot of what was going on with everyone else. Atropos, it's so sad what you went through. For you it was a lengthy ordeal. Many hugs to you...
