Re: Thorns and All

@warriortwo I have pink Marie Pavies and Autumn Damasks and they are both totally bullet proof. I know next to nothing about rose cultivation, I just plant them along a stone retaining wall with good drainage (they don't like getting their feet wet) and let them do their thing. They're both rambling...

Re: Thorns and All

Me too! I have rose bushes at home and they are extremely thorny, the blossoms are an exploded mess and usually have adorable little jumping spiders in them, but they are always, always in my house because I don't keep them for their looks but their scent. As Fabienne said in the description, the sc...

Re: Nell Gwyn

This is probably the most outright fun scent I've tried in a long time. I'm not really a foodie fan, but I bought a bottle of this because I adore cedar in any form. I'm actually really glad I did because this is wonderful. Wet: It's all spicy, nutty pudding. Very foodie and utterly delicious withou...

Re: Thorns and All

I'm trying this one straight out of the letterbox in order to get a review in, but I'll try again later when it's had a chance to rest. I had to try this one because I was a big fan of Stella, but this is so much better than Stella. This is one of the most lovely, true to life rose scents I've tried...

Re: The Shipman (Canterbury Tales)

This was an absolute delight from the opening boozey, lime Bay Rum to the beautifully fresh yet salty, waxy aquatic drydown. I ordered this as part of a sampler of perfumes for my brother-in-laws to try but they are out of luck because this one is staying with me. Maybe they'll get it when I order a...

Re: Empress Cixi

I would almost swear there was patch in this since it has a little of that lovely, dreamy headshop vibe. If you love BPAL's LE Womb Furie or Snake Oil, I think you would most likely adore this. But where SO has a kind of acerbic tang when it's fresh that needs to be aged out, the Empress is soft and...

Re: Frida Kahlo

I just got this hot out of the mailbox (and I do mean hot, it's about 30 degrees here). I think the heat is pre-aging my oils so when I crack them open, they smell AMAZING. Frida Kahlo is like Silver Carnations older, more sophisticated sister. The black pepper is a gorgeous accompaniment to the clo...

Re: Thorns and All

Thank you Gemma!
I have a sample of BPAL's Hope that I'm almost all out of so even if Thorns and All turns out to be mostly a single, exquisite rose note, I would still be very happy.

Re: Review Requests and Random Stuff

Oh no, I left my Yule sample order too late and missed out on Lady and a Baby Unicorn! Oh well, I think between the samples and the 4 bottles I've ordered I have pretty much got the entire Yule catalogue covered...
