Nefertiti and Akhenaten

Post by sertso »

Sweet sticky golden amber, a sugared spikenard, green patchouli, and a drop of yellow musk, mixed together with a skin of henna and a measure of sandalwood, this could very easily adorn the pampered flanks of a beauty such as Nefertiti and a genius such as Amenhotep. Sweet, deep, musky and holy. There is enough of the aromatic to keep this from going too sweetly on you, but enough of the smooth and suave so that it could become your favorite bedtime potion. Aptly named and divinely sensuous.

I expected to like this one a lot, but when I first tried it (still cold in the bottle from the mail box), it wasn't quite what I'd expected. I've kept on trying it and now, after more than a week of adapting to my home, it's very much as expected. I'm a big fan of amber and it's very present here. Everything else rather blends into a super support system for the amber. I haven't figured out the initial smell (in the bottle and when it first put it on) of Anise or Fennel, but it goes away quickly.

End result is that I love it! :heartrain:

I'm planning on placing an order for this one now! I kinda wish I had ordered this instead of Cupid and Psyche, since C&P decided it hates my skin chemistry!

GLORIOUS!!

I love this scent. It's heavy on the amber, golden and warm and sticky. It smells almost translucent. The yellow musk is warm and sweet and makes the scent smell "wet". The henna is the perfect touch to ground this very musky feminine scent - it comes off as earthy and almost a spice. It's sort of like cardamom and fennel seeds had a baby. The sandalwood smells like red sandalwood, dry and rich and sort of powdery - but that sunny yellow musk keeps it from making the overall scent powdery. This is sexy and smooth and complex and warm. It's quite sweet, so I'd call it feminine, but I suppose a guy that doesn't mind sweetness and amber could wear it. It's warm and emollient and soft and exotic. It smells expensive and exotic, and yet happy and welcoming.

Big fluffy golden throw to this scent. Cheerful, warm, feminine. Same vibe too me as Panic (which has copal instead of amber, but similar softness and warmth and cheerfulness). Amber lovers, get this one!

ETA: I wore this again today and got a stronger sandalwood - it was very very like Field of Reeds, only warmer with the addition of amber and the yellow musk. There is something herbal in the beginning that really really identifies as "lavender" to my nose. I guess it's the spikenard. I swear this is Field of Reeds (sandalwood) plus amber plus lavender. LOVE THIS. Great sleep scent.

I mostly get rich, sweet amber from this with some green/earthy/woody notes in the background. A great comfort scent - very soft and cozy. I would put this in the same family as The Field of Reeds (which I also love); they have a similar feel, especially on the dry down. :heartrain:

One more week and I find the "anise" scent is totally gone, as is the "green." It's just rich, warm, and wonderful! :hrt::

I am sooooooooooooooooooo grateful I ordered this -- based on all the swooning here. On me, it is amber-y and sandalwood-y, which is nice, as BPAL's amber goes totally babypowder on me. Here, it is warm and sexy, there's a non-foodie sweet, almost caramel (but not creamy, not foody, just warm). Fabienne's La Mere... hooked me on patchouli and I think I get it here -- a bit of a kind of sexy background that makes this warm. Having worked with wet henna powder, I love/sometimes hate that scent and don't smell it here (at least, not now). I predict this one makes the cut to permanent and should -- it is a keeper!
