Initially when I got this scent about a month ago I didn't think I would need to add it to my collection because as others have said it is like the Orphan Black clone twin, of Field of Reeds, but I like the pepper and manky (manly skank) sandalwood of FoR more. Well, than after a month of various tests, I realized I do like it. It for me opens up like field of reeds not peppery, but there is a pungent bite. I think that might be the yellow musk and green patchouli dueling it out with the sandalwood and spike as the seconds, just in case one taps out. It then goes into a realm no one else has mentioned and we are all different so here it goes, I get dandruff funk. It smells like greasy, dirty hair mixed with wood paneling from the 70's. It's not henna so I don't know what's giving me that image, maybe the "camphor" that other people are picking up on is dandruff in my mind's eye. It does pass after about 15-30 minutes. Well now that I have had it for a month the funk is over and it is still similar to field of reeds but it has a character that is it's own. It has very much grown on me, it's a grower apparently, and I do think I will get this in my next order. Field o' Reeds is great, but it doesn't have longevity. Nef & Akh lasts on me for a longer time, the dry down is a full balsam amber which is sweet and rich, but tempered by the spike and green patchouli and I have very much come to appreciate it's uniqueness. I normally have a no clone club role, but it's just different enough I let it through!

A lovely woody aromatic. This smells so much like my Aquolina Blue Sugar, which I love. I definitely agree with other reviewers that this contains anise or some kind of licorice note. I know Blue Sugar was marketed as a men's fragrance but I am not the only woman who wears it. Nefertiti & Akhenaten is very lasting and the sillage is heavy. I mixed it with my hair gloss and you could still smell it 12 hours later.

This was reminding me of something when the initial burst of sweet amber subsided, and it was driving me nuts until I realised what it was. On me, this smells like a creamier variation of Villainess' Retrograde. I get a distinct lavender on the dry-down and I now have Retrograde on to compare and it's definitely a similar style of lavender. Only where Retrograde is dry, Nefertiti and Akhenaten has a sweeter, vanilla-ish base. I'm definitely getting the sandalwood and it's incredibly lovely. Since I adore Retrograde, I'm also adoring this. It's different, though. A more playful, sweeter, comforting cousin. Nice.

I am notoriously bad at choosing scents for myself. (Almost all my classic favorites have come as random free samples!) I pick resinous scents because Patchouli is my favorite, and I've never wavered on that. But when I pick out resinous scents, I strike out.

The first thing that happened is the wand was too big for the sample vial, and it was VERY difficult to get out. So I had to pry it off, and by then I had Nefertiti et. al. all over my hands and a big blast of sandalwood. Sandalwood, sandalwood, sandalwood. There were some other really nice notes in there but nothing more obvious than sandalwood.

A few minutes later: nothing but Sandalwood.

A few hours later: Sandalwood.

A few hours and a vigorous scrubbing later: slightly less but still very potent Sandalwood.

This was yesterday, and thankfully the Sandalwood is gone. I used to love Sandalwood, but--unlike Patchouli, the only scent that seems to have stayed with me--I got tired of it, and so this wasn't the scent for me. Onward...

This is glorious! I had gotten a sample last spring/summer when I placed my first order with Possets and felt drawn to re-visiting it yesterday when our weather cooled down a little. It has an amber that is not too sweet or caramel-like on me, which is what I like. I don't feel I can do it justice and many have said it better than me--however my impressions are that in the vial, it smells of rich amber, and a background of wood and a bit of earthiness. Then on my skin, it becomes more complex and I pick up the sandalwood and a beautiful smooth and creamy blend. I also had something a bit herbal show up, which might have been the spikenard and possibly a bit of the henna, which I have smelled in the powder and a Moroccan perfume oil I have by Madini. As it blooms on my skin, I love it more and more. The drydown for me is amber and sandalwood. It lasted really well, a good six or more hours and then the next morning I could smell a faint trace of the amber still. I think for me this is going to be full bottle worthy--I absolutely love it.

Maybe it is the spikenard in this, but for some reason this is all lavender on me. Sweet sugared lavender, with maybe a touch of sandalwood and slight amber in the background. Very odd....am I the only one who gets this? No patchouli, or henna comes out for me. Just sweet lavender. Good smelling but not what I was expecting because lavender is not even listed on the notes. Maybe I'm coming down with a cold or something? Or my nose is just wonky today. :s:

Yep, me too. Lavender when there is none.
