Venus Black
I really like this scent and find it very long lasting. It almost duplicates a scent that I already have and love: Wylde Ivy Ravens Keep (hope it's OK to say this here!) I think it's the pepper note. In any case, it's really unique and definitely worth trying.

Re: Venus Black
I neglected to put this one on my top 10 (which I will rectify immediately), only because it's difficult, even with my stash boxes in front of me, to pick out the winners when I have more perfume than skin to regularly wear them. I'd forgotten just how everloving spectacular Venus Black is. This is a scrumptiously dry melange of musk, black pepper, anise/fennel and wood. It's velvety and sexy, delightfully dark and unique. A Possets gem.

Re: Venus Black
I purchased a poppet on my last order and I never gave it more than a small wrist test. I was a hot summer day and I guess I was just not in the mood for that kind of scent. Yesterday was cooler, so I gave it the full on test and wow, this is just wonderful. It is not as peppery as I had thought originally. It has just the right combination of pepper, anise and narcissus to blend with I think, some pale wood and the black musk. This is definitely bottle worthy for me. Venus Black is dark and spicy with good sillage and lasts for hours. It will be perfect for autumn.
Re: Venus Black
I agree with SS above in this is a cool weather scent for me, too. It's very dark and vampy and could be a little too much in warmer weather, but when the temps drop, this shines. Reminds me of BPAL's Black Moon a bit. Not a scent for an ingénue!

On me, this smells almost EXACTLY like Jo Malone's "Pomegranate Noir" - love it!!

Re: Venus Black
On, me this does not have the dark fruitiness of Pomegranate Noir. For me Venus Black will be a replacement for the expensive and hard to find Fahrenheit Absolute, which I adore. Venus Black is slightly spicier than Fahrenheit Absolute, but I will be purchasing a 10mL bottle as soon as I run low of FA.katiushka wrote:On me, this smells almost EXACTLY like Jo Malone's "Pomegranate Noir" - love it!!

Re: Venus Black
I tell myself that I could always pick out a Posset blindfolded, but I doubt I could with this one. It is a very different indeed, much more of a "department store perfume" to me. A few people above did link it to Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir and Fahrenheit.
I also picked up licorice before complete dry down, which very well might have been the pepper. Now, a few hours later it is a lovely dark musk with just a hint of that pear. Can't distinguish the narcissus. Pretty and a wonderful alternative for my heavy resinous scents.

I never ever ever would have thought to try this had I first read the notes. I don't often eat pears, so smelling like a pear is something I'd likely avoid.
This however is a beautiful feminine perfume, mostly narcissus drifting over a luminous musk. Gentle sweetness, non powdery. A little bit of pear if I seek it out, but this is a scent more than the sum of its parts. It's lovely.

Re: Venus Black
Venus black is deep, full-bodied, and very well-blended. The pear note is rich and sweet, more pear preserves than the fresh fruit. I'm not sure what narcissus smells like, but I do get some sage and a light touch of pepper. Unfortunately something, either the sage or black musk, makes this go way too masculine for me to feel comfortable wearing it. I'd love to smell it on a man though.

Re: Venus Black
My impressions, applied heavily on thirsty skin: Sweet and smooth and spiced and “silvered”. Not near so sharp as I expected or as dry as the description. I probably got this for the sage, and though neither it nor pear nor narcissus appear plainly, they doubtless contribute to the complex height of this dark-feeling blend.
I enjoy it a lot, and it does give a strong sense of Venus reborn.
